The sequel treads on familiar ground, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If you’ve played the previous game, then you’ll likely be familiar with the tools of the trade as these items function in a similar manner. To help you with all of these tasks, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 gives you a plethora of options from multiple sniper rifles and secondary weapons (including a bow) to gadgets such as drones, gas mines, and automated turrets. Bounty targets are flanked by other soldiers and a “rival” sniper watching the area. There are even bounties that present new opponents hiding at specific parts of the map. Naturally, you can still do other optional tasks and challenges, such as killing two enemies with a single shot or using objects in the environment such as explosives to get the job done. Upon completing all the main objectives, you’ll clear the level and unlock the next one. The campaign has five levels set in towering mountains, narrow passageways, fortresses, caverns, woods, and military bases all rendered in striking visual detail.Įventually, you’ll find your assassination targets and other mission objectives. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, like its predecessor, allows you to explore a semi-open-world environment. Taking out your targets in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2

There’s even a particular level where your ideals for Kuamar’s future don’t go according to plan, and Raven has to swoop in once more. The narrative itself is fairly simple, with the typical themes of covert ops and interventionism. The plot isn’t the game’s strongest point, that’s for sure. Worse, there’s information about the torturing of prisoners and nuclear weapon stockpiles. The new leader, Bibi Rashida, has recruited a cabal of followers and cohorts to remain in power. You’re stuck somewhere in the deserts of Kuamar, a fictional country in the Middle East. In Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, you play as an operative named Raven. Still, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 manages to retain the thrills and ridiculous kill shots that fans have come to enjoy. Certain functions also feel a bit restrictive. It mixes sandbox-style exploration with instances that make you feel that it’s an “arcadey” shooter. Unfortunately, the recently released sequel does regress ever so slightly. All Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 had to do was follow its predecessor’s formula and add some improvements where necessary. CI Games’ offering provided a solid experience that combined stealth and FPS action, somewhat reminiscent of the Metal Gear Solid, Hitman, and Sniper Elite franchises.

CI Games promised this one will utilize new consoles’ capabilities and loading times to deliver “the best looking Sniper Ghost Warrior game thus far.” So those NPCs’ temporal, parietal, and occipital bones will scatter in 4K resolution as well as a fine red mist. The game’s replayable-mission structure follows 2019’s Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts, which pulled back from the open-world ambitions of the poorly received Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 of 2017. Players will plan their kills on five different sandbox maps, and will face “more intelligent adversaries with improved tactics.” Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is set in “modern day Middle East,” though from the gadgets available and the evil-Quarian getup the player character is wearing, I’d say near-future is also an applicable term. A news release from CI Games touts “extreme-range sniping of targets over 1,000 meters away,” but there’s plenty more traditional gunplay and melee attacking, as the user makes their way to the perfect perch for the level’s climactic shot. I’m gonna offer a content warning, for blood, brain tissue, and numerous skullcaps flying like frisbees.
